Season Six of the science fiction television series The X-Files aired on the FOX Network from November 8th, 1998 to May 16th, 1999, comprising a total of twenty-two episodes. The series stars David Duchovny as F.B.I. Special Agent Fox Mulder, and Gillian Anderson as his partner, Special Agent Dana Scully. This marks the sixth consecutive season of the show for both actors. One of the larger production differences between season six and previous seasons was that filming was moved from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to Los Angeles, California. This was largely at the insistence of Duchovny, who wanted to closer to home. Season six picks up immediately following the 1998 feature film The X-Files: Fight the Future, and ushers in fresh recurring characters such as F.B.I. agents Diana Fowley, played by Mimi Rogers, and Jeffrey Spender, played by Chris Owens. Recurring guest stars from previous seasons include Mitch Pileggi as Assistant director Walter Skinner, and William B. Davis as the nefarious Cigarette Smoking Man.
