The Cheerleader

The Cheerleader is an informal title featured in the NBC television series Heroes. The name refers to the character of Claire Bennet, who was in fact a cheerleader at Union Wells High School in Odessa, Texas. Male nurse Peter Petrelli learned through the prophetic vision of the late Isaac Mendez that a great catastrophe was destined to befall New York City. Peter knew that the key towards preventing the event from occurring involved an as-yet unidentified cheerleader. Isaac's haunting words, "Save the cheerleader -- save the world", drove Peter to track Claire down to Odessa, where he did in fact assist her in avoiding the rampages of a serial killer known as Gabriel "Sylar" Gray.
