TekWar is a Canadian/US science fiction television series based on the TekWar series of novels created by William Shatner and ghost written by Ron Goulart. The regular series was preceded by four telemovies, all of which aired on the USA Network, CTV and in syndication in 1994. Not counting the movies, eighteen episodes of the series were produced in total between 1994 and 1996.
All eighteen episodes of the series, plus the four telemovies are included on the TekWar: The Complete SeriesDVD collection.
Most internet TV websites show the episode list as pertaining to season 2, indicating the four telemovies as season 1 episodes.
William Shatner is credited as the author on the TekWar series of novels, and indeed, he developed the concept behind the novels while working on the set of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. The actual books however were ghost written by sci-fi author Ron Goulart. Goulart also wrote the 1985 novel Brainz, Inc., which Shatner used as partial inspiration for the books.
TekWar was referenced in the "Night of the Nearly Dead" episode of Father Ted in 1998 where the main character is seen reading one of the novels and later appears on a gameshow where the subject is TekWar.
The setting of the series takes place in the year 2045.
