Teal'c is a fictional warrior and alien and a major character in the Stargate franchise. Played by actor Christopher Judge, he was one of the series regulars on the 1997-2007 Showtime/Syfy series Stargate SG-1 appearing in a total of 206 episodes. He also appeared on two episodes of the spin-off series Stargate Atlantis as well as the two direct-to-video feature films Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum. Teal'c has also appeared in comic book adaptations of Stargate SG-1.
Teal'c is presented as a member of an alien race known as the Jaffa, a warrior breed who are the enslaved servants of a race of symbiotic conquerors called the Goa'uld. In the series pilot episode, "Children of the Gods", Teal'c defected from the Goa'uld, preferring to live life as a free Jaffa in opposition to their rule. He became a civilian member of the Earth-based military exploration team SG-1 and proved to be a staunch and loyal ally.
