A taser is self defense weapon used by law enforcement. It is a handheld device that fires electromagnetic darts at a target connected to conductors that delivers an electric charge to a victim, rendering them unconscious. Depending upon the power being conducted through a taser, the effect may also be lethal in some cases. Some law enforcement agencies, such as police departments may use tasers as a supplemental tool alongside their police issue sidearms.
On the Netflix TV series Daredevil, members of the criminal cartel known as the Kitchen Irish used tasers to bring down vigilante Frank Castle. [1]
A member of a Thunderbolts Unit used a taser baton to zap Miles Morales for violating the Powers Act after he had just saved a small girl from a burning building. [2]
Notes[]
- Tasers and Taser gun both redirect to this page.
- While seemingly used as a general term, Taser is actually a brand name. The Taser was developed by the Axon company.
- A popular phrase commonly associated with Tasers is the defensive cry of "Don't tase me, bro!"
- There is a science fiction comic book villain known as Taserface, who is a foe of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Rocket finds his name to be hysterical.
- Another weapon, which is similar to a Taser is a stun gun. Like the Taser, it delivers an electric jolt to a target, but this requires direct contact with an opponent in order to be effective, whereas a Taser can be used for a distance attack.
