Tarzan and the Mermaids is an American film of the jungle adventure subgenre. It is based on the character of Tarzan as seen in books published by Edgar Rice Burroughs. This is the twelfth film in the series to star actor Johnny Weissmuller in the role of Tarzan. The movie was directed by Robert Florey with a script written by Carroll Young. It was produced by Sol Lesser Productions and RKO Radio Pictures. It premiered in the United States on May 15th, 1948.
