- Tarzan was created by author Edgar Rice Burroughs. He first appeared in the novel Tarzan of the Apes, which was published in serialized format The All-Story in 1912 and was eventually collected in book format in 1914. The character has since appeared in twenty-four stories by Burroughs, as well as numerous spin-offs and alternate media adaptations including television, film, and comic books.
- This issue is an adaptation of Tarzan and the Castaways, which is a collection of three stories by Edgar Rice Burroughs and is the last in his series of Tarzan novels. It was first published in magazine format between 1940 and 1941.
