"Years of Glory -- Day of Doom!" is the first issue of the second volume of Tales to Astonish. It reprints the main story from Sub-Mariner, Volume 1 #1. This story was written by Roy Thomas with artwork by John Buscema and inker Frank Giacoia. Buscema also provided the cover art illustration for this issue with inks by Sol Brodsky. The issue was lettered by Sam Rosen and edited by Danny Fingeroth. The original story was edited by Stan Lee. It shipped with a January, 1979 and carried a cover price of 40 cents per copy (US).

- The colorist for this issue is uncredited.
- The Sub-Mariner was resurrected in the modern era in Fantastic Four, Volume 1 #4. Upon discovering that Atlantis had been destroyed, he declared war on the surface world and battled the Fantastic Four.
