Tales of the Unexpected is an American comic book limited series published by DC Comics. It ran for eight issues from December, 2006 to July, 2007. The series featured two stories per issue spotlighting the characters of Crispus Allen, the Spectre, and the "Ghost Breaker", Doctor Terrence Thirteen. Spectre stories were written by David Lapham with with artwork by Eric Battle and inks by Prentis Rollins. They were colored by Guy Major and lettered by Pat Brosseau. Doctor Thirteen stories were written by Brian Azzarello and illustrated by Cliff Chiang with coloring by Patricia Mulvihill and lettering by Jared K. Fletcher. Stories were edited by Bob Schreck with Brandon Montclare as assistant editor.

- The character of Crispus Allen was created by writer Greg Rucka and artist Shawn Martinbrough. He first appeared in "The Honored Dead" story from Detective Comics #472 in March, 2000. Allen became the third host for the Spectre in Infinite Crisis #4 in March, 2006.
- Terrence Thirteen, also known as "Doctor 13" is a supernatural debunker created by artist Leonard Starr. He was introduced in the first story from Star-Spangled Comics #122 in November, 1951 titled "I Talked With the Dead".
