Tales of the Black Freighter is a fictional comic book series featured in the Watchmen multimedia franchise. It is also the title of a real-world animated film short, which is an adaptation of stories presented in the fictional comic. The animated feature was released as a stand-alone Blu-ray, but was also inserted into body of the Watchmen feature film in the Watchman: The Ultimate Cut 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of the film. In the Watchmen comic book maxi-series published by DC Comics, there is a young boy who spends times at a newsstand pouring over the latest issue of Tales of the Black Freighter.
