Tales of Suspense is an ongoing comic book series of the anthology genre. It was published by Marvel Comics and ran for ninety-nine issues from January, 1959 to March, 1968. The series was originally a science fiction & fantasy anthology series, similar to that of companion titles such as Strange Tales and Tales to Astonish. With issue #39, the series steered towards superhero anthology tales with the introduction of Iron Man, who remained a co-cover feature throughout the duration of the title. Iron Man began sharing the cover spotlight with Captain America beginning with Tales of Suspense #59.

- Iron Man was created by writers Stan Lee & Larry Lieber and artist Don Heck. He first appeared in the first story presented in Tales of Suspense #39 in March, 1963 titled "Iron Man Is Born!".
- The character of Captain America was created by writer Joe Simon and artist Jack Kirby. He was introduced in the pages of Captain America Comics #1, published by Timely Comics in March, 1941.
- Stan Lee wrote the majority of stories in this series; often collaborating with his younger brother, Larry Lieber.
- "Tales of the Watcher" back-up featurettes begin in Tales of Suspense #49 and ran until Tales of Suspense #58.
- Captain America vignettes began with Tales of Suspense #59 and continued for the duration of the series.
