Tales from the Crypt is an American horror anthology television series produced by HBO. It aired from June of 1989 to July of 1996 totaling 93 episodes. The series was based on the original Tales from the Crypt comic book published by EC Comics from 1950 to 1955. Each episode was hosted by a character known as the Crypt Keeper (voiced by John Kassir), who was known for making gruesome puns, usually in relation to the episode that was being previewed. A film version of Tales from the Crypt was made in 1972. Two more feature-length films were made in the 1990s, based on the formula of the television series. In 1995, Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight was released and was followed in 1996 by Tales from the Crypt: Bordello of Blood.
