Swamp Thing is the name attributed to several different fictional characters featured in comic books published by DC Comics. It is also the name of the family comic titles featuring said character, dating all the way back to 1972. The most well-known character to use the name of Swamp Thing is Alec Holland. Alec Holland was a scientist who attempted to create a bio-restorative formula aimed at benefitting mankind. When criminal agents sought to take control of Holland's work, he was exposed to his own experimental formula and submerged into swampy waters of Louisiana, whereupon he was transformed into a humanoid creature of vegetable matter. Chosen as the Earth Elemental by the Parliament of Trees, the Swamp Thing protects the swamps and surrounding environs from the machinations of mad scientist Anton Arcane.
In addition to Alec Holland's own family, the world of the Swamp Thing is also tied into the long family line of the Arcane family. The following is a list of known family members.

Alec Holland, aka the Swamp Thing, is the son of Larry Holland and Alice Holland. He has a brother named Edward. A man known as Alexander Holland is a possible ancestor of Alec. Alec's first wife was Linda Holland. Following Linda's death, Alec married Abigail Arcane née Cable. With Abby, he has a daughter named Tefé.

Very little is known about Alexander Holland. He is a possible ancestor to the modern Holland family, which consists of Larry and Alice Holland and their sons, Edward and Alec.
Alice Holland[]
Alice Holland is the wife of Larry Holland. She is the mother of Alec Holland and Edward Holland. She is the former mother-in-law of Linda Holland and the current mother-in-law of Abigail Holland. Her granddaughter is Tefé Holland.
Edward Holland[]
Edward Holland the son of Larry Holland and Alice Holland. He has a brother named Alec. A man known as Alexander Holland is a possible ancestor of Edward.
Linda Holland[]
Linda Holland is the first wife of Alec Holland. She is the daughter of Agnes Asherman and a man whose surname is ridge. Linda is a descendant of Alex Olsen - the original Swamp Thing. She is a descendant of Olsen Ridge, Alex Olsen and Damien Ridge - all of whom were active during the early 20th century.

Abigail Arcane is the daughter of Gregori Arcane. She is the second wife of Alec Holland and the mother of Tefé Holland. Abigail's first husband is Matthew Cable. Abigail is the niece of Anton Arcane. She has a brother named William. Her grandmother is Anais Arcane and her grandfather is Josip Arcane. Her aunt is Aniela Arcane. She is second cousins to Hans von Hammer (Enemy Ace) and Ilsa von Hammer.

Anaïs Arcane was the wife of Josip Arcane. She had three children with Josip; Gregori, Anton and Aniela. She was a distant cousin to Enemy Ace Hans von Hammer and Ilsa von Hammer. She is the grandmother of Abigail Arcane and the great-grandmother of Tefé Holland.

Aniela Arcane was the daughter of Anaïs and Josip Arcane and the younger sister of Anton Arcane. Her second brother was Gregori Arcane. Through Gregori, she was the aunt of Abigail Arcane and William Arcane. She is the great aunt of Tefé Holland.
Anton Arcane[]
Anton Arcane is the son of Josip Arcane and Anaïs Arcane. He had a brother named Gregori Arcane and a younger sister named Aniela Arcane. He is the uncle of Abigail Arcane and the great-uncle of Tefé Holland. He is cousin to Hans von Hammer (Enemy Ace) and Ilsa von Hammer.

Gregori Arcane, also known as the Patchwork Man, is the son of Josip Arcane and Anaïs Arcane. He had a brother named Anton and a younger sister named Aniela. Gregori was the nephew of Hans von Hammer. He was the father of Abigail Arcane and as such, was the father-in-law of Matthew Cable (since removed) and later, Alec Holland. He is the grandfather of Tefé Holland.

Hans von Hammer was the German World War I fighter pilot known as Enemy Ace. He is the great grandfather of Ilsa von Hammer. Hans was a distant cousin to the Arcane family on their maternal side, which included Anaïs Arcane and her husband Josip and their three children, Gregory, Anton and Aniela.
Ilsa von Hammer[]
Ilsa von Hammer is the great-granddaughter of World War I flying ace Hans von Hammer. As such, she is a distant cousin to the Arcane family, and by extension, the Holland family.
Josip Arcane[]
Josip Arcane was the husband of Anaïs Arcane. He had three children with Anaïs; Josip; Gregori, Anton and Aniela. He was a distant cousin to Enemy Ace Hans von Hammer and Ilsa von Hammer. He is the grandfather of Abigail Arcane and the great-grandfather of Tefé Holland.

William Arcane is the son of Gregori Arcane and the brother of Abigail Arcane. He is the uncle of Tefé Holland.

Agnes Asherman is the mother of Linda Holland. She was presumably the wife of a man named Ridge, who was the descendant of Damian Ridge and Linda Olsen Ridge.
Alex Olsen[]
The original Swamp Thing. He was the first husband of Linda Olsen Ridge. He had no children.
Damian Ridge[]
Damien Ridge is the murderer of Alex Olsen. He married Alex's widow, Linda, and through her sired a family line that leads to Linda Holland.
Ingrid von Hammer[]
Ingrid von Hammer was the wife of Hans von Hammer. She was the daughter-in-law of Otto von Hammer and the great-grandmother of Ilsa von Hammer.
John Constantine[]
John Constantine is the biological father of Tefé Holland, though she is often regarded as the true daughter of Alec and Abigail Holland.
Linda Olsen[]
Linda Olsen was married to Alex Olsen, who was murdered by Damian Ridge. Unaware of Ridge's involvement in her husband's death, she eventually married him. Linda's descendant, Linda Holland is named for her.
Matthew Cable[]
Matthew Cable is the first husband of Abigail Cable. He is the former son-in-law of Gregori Arcane.
Thomas Constantine[]
Thomas Constantine was the father of John Constantine, and the grandfather of Tefé Holland. He was married to Mary Ann Quinn Constantine. Thomas was the son of William Constantine and Alice Constantine.
Otto von Hammer[]
Otto von Hammer was the father of Hans von Hammer. He was the father-in-law of Ingrid von Hammer and the great great-grandfather of Ilsa von Hammer. He was a distant uncle to Anaïs Arcane, and her children, which included Gregori, Anton and Aniela.
