- Superman was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster. He first appeared in Action Comics #1 in June, 1938 in a story called "Superman, Champion of the Opressed".
- This issue presents the first appearance of Mister Mxyzptlk, who is an interdimensional [[Imps|imp] from the Fifth Dimension. He will continue to serve as a major pain in Superman's Kryptonian ass for years to come.
