Superman is an American feature film of the super-hero fantasy genre. It is based on the character of Superman as seen in comic books published by DC Comics. This is the eighth live-action feature film in the greater Superman Film Series and the first installment of a new continuity following the discontinuation of the DC Extended Universe, also known as the "Snyderverse". The film was written and directed by James Gunn. It was produced by Warner Bros., DC Studios and the Safran Company. It was released internationally on July 9th, 2025 and made its U.S. theatrical premiere on July 11th, 2025.
