A subway is a kind of train that operates underground. They're popular in cities such as New York City and London, England, though in the U.K. they are usually referred to as the Tube. In fiction, subways are usually dirty, adorned with all manner of graffiti and are used by the crude and ugly riffraff of the world. They're kind of like the Walmart of traveling conveyances.
