Subspecies is an American independent film of the horror genre, with an emphasis on vampire fiction. It is the first installment in a series that includes three sequels. The movie was directed by Ted Nicolaou with a script written by Jackson Barr and David Pabian based on an idea by Charles Band. It was produced by Full Moon Entertainment and premiered direct-to-video on July 18th, 1991. The movie was succeeded by a sequel film called Bloodstone: Subspecies II.
