Stryke led a team of highly trained assassins and was responsible for the murder of inventor Philip Hart. Philip's son, Jack Hart, who was also the super-powered adventurer known as Jack of Hearts, swore vengeance against the man who took his father's life. Jack finally got his chance when he encountered Stryke and his goons on the New York pier where the Corporation vessel El Tigre was docked.
