Biography[]
Steven Craven was a young man around college age in the early 2010s. He came from an affluent family from Los Angeles, California. Steven was best friends with Nico Bradley, but often seemed to defer to Nico's dominant personality.
Nico convinced Steven to leave home so they could drive off to Mexico to engage in endless nights of debauchery. They went to Tijuana and stopped at the first cantina they could find where they spent the evening drinking beer and downing shots. Steven had taken a liking a Mexican girl, but it was Nico who ended up having sex with her as Steven discovered them rutting in a dirty public restroom stall. Steven yelled at Nico, but passed out soon after.
He awakened sometime later to find Nico in a state of great agitation. He discovered that Nico had accidentally killed the Mexican girl and now they both feared for their futures.
As they planned their next move, a vagrant walked into the bar and offered them the opportunity to experience the ultimate in human sensation. Both were incredulous, but Nico accepted the strange man's gift, which was a Lemarchand puzzle box. Armed with a handheld camcorder, Steven filmed Nico as he solved the riddle of the box.
Solving the puzzle opened a doorway to Hell, and through it entered the Cenobites - sadomasochistic demonic entities of the Order of the Gash. As Nico had been the one to open the box, he was the one destined to be pulled into Hell.
With Nico gone, Steven threw himself even further into a drunken stupor. The Hellbound Nico reached out to him telepathically through the box, urging him to kill a prostitute. Doing so, allowed Nico to partially resurrect himself on the mortal plane, and he consumed the dead woman's blood and flesh. Nico required more however, and pressured Steven into doing it again.
Steven found a street walker and followed her to her place. After having sex with her, he bludgeoned her to death with the Lemarchand puzzle box. A skinless Nico emerged and again availed himself of her body. When Steven realized that the woman had an infant child, he could go no further. Nico killed the baby, but Steven refused to kill any more for him. Disappointed, Nico then killed Steven. He flayed his body and used his skinned face as a mask. Impersonating Steven, Nico returned to Los Angeles to reunite with Steven's family, and his former girlfriend. [2]
