Starsharks were big-honkin' space sharks that... well, lived in space. They were utilized by a war-like species known as the Brood, who outfitted them with bio-weaponry. The Brood used Starsharks in their first major conflict against the X-Men, who had journeyed with the former Shi'ar empress Lilandra Neramani aboard her space yacht.
The Brood hunt-master T'Crilēē used a Starshark to open fire on the Z'Reee Shar. X-Men member Kitty Pryde had to don a Shi'ar pressure suit in order to affect repairs.
