Starlings are a fictional type of creature featured in comic books published by DC Comics. They are associated with the Green Lantern line of comic titles and first appeared in Green Lantern, Volume 2 #37 in June, 1965. Starlings are an artificially created breed of homunculi created by the Aoran scientist Evil Star. Evil Star used the power of his Star band to create the Starlings. They are fashioned them in his image and stood approximately two feet tall. Each Starling was outfitted with a Star band of their own. Starlings are virtually invulnerable and they are fiercely loyal to their creator. A ubiquitous trait of the Starlings is that they can only commit deeds in the service of evil. Evil Star has deployed his Starlings to combat Green Lantern, Hal Jordan on numerous occasions.
