Starfleet General Order 7 is a military policy featured in the Star Trek film and television franchise. It was first referenced in the original Star Trek series in the season one episode "The Menagerie (Part 1)". The creation of the policy was formed due to the nature of events that were established in the unaired first pilot episode "The Cage".

Description[]

General Order 7 was added to the official Federation Starfleet policy in the year 2254, based upon reports submitted by Captain Christopher Pike of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 and his First Officer Commander Spock. By order of Robert L. Comsol of Starfleet Command, no vessel under any condition, emergency or otherwise is to visit the planet Talos IV. Violation of the order merits a sentence of death - the only such penalty still carried out under Starfleet regulations. The planetary prohibition was established due to the dangerous, telepathic nature of the planet's dominant life forms, the Talosians. [1]
