The Starfleet Division of Advanced Synthetic Research is a fictional laboratory featured in the Star Trek multimedia franchise. It first appeared in the "Remembrance" episode of Star Trek: Picard in 2020.
Description[]
The Starfleet Division of Advanced Synthetic Research was a robotics laboratory located in San Francisco, California. It was headed up by a scientist named Bruce Maddox and it was here that Starfleet developed models of synthetics. Following the destruction of the Utopia Planitia Shipyards by rogue synthetics in 2385, the Federation Starfleet shut down the laboratory's work and placed a ban on the development of synthetic research.
