Star Wars Weekly was a magazine-sized weekly comic book series based on the 1977 feature film Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The series was published by Marvel Comics' UK branch and reprinted stories from Marvel's American Star Wars ongoing series, which began publication in the U.S. in July, 1977. In addition to reprinted material, the series also featured original pieces as well. Reprinted stories were often spread out across multiple issues. The series was released on a weekly publishing schedule from February 8th, 1978 until May 21st, 1980, spanning a total of 117 issues. Afterward, the series changed its title to Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Weekly and continued the original numbering sequence until issue #139. The average cost per issues ranged from .10 to .12 GBP.
