"Rising Malevolence" is the second episode of season one of the science fiction/fantasy animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which is based on the Star Wars film series and is a sequel to the 2008 Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated movie. The episode was directed by Dave Filoni with a script written by Steven Melching. It first aired on Cartoon Network on October 3rd, 2008.

- Ahsoka Tano is the first named character to make an appearance in this episode (along with some unidentified Clone troopers).
- Commander Wolfe, also known as CC-3636, is the first character with speaking lines in this episode.
- The sector of space where Plo Koon's ship travels is identified as the Abregado system for the first time. It also appeared in flashback in "Ambush".
- This is the first appearance of the 104th Battalion, which is the Clone Trooper battalion under General Plo Koon.
Allusions[]
- The title of this episode is taken from Malevolence, which is General Grievous' capital ship.
- Escape pod 1977 is likely named as such because Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was released in 1977.
- The scene of the droids avoiding the Malevolence 's giant laser cannon is reminiscent of the Death Star troopers shying away from the super-laser blast in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
