It first captured the imaginations of movie goers in May, 1977 with its inaugural installment, which has since come to be identified by its full title, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. - This is the first appearance of the Hutt Twins, which consists of a male and a female. They are unidentified at this time. One is a male and the other is a female. They are cousins to Jabba the Hutt.

- Reference is made to the planet Nal Hutta in this episode, which is the homeworld of the Hutts.
- This is the first live-action appearance of Black Krrsantan. Black Krrsantan is presented as a wookiee gladiator. He first appeared in Star Wars: Darth Vader #1 by Marvel Comics in February, 2015.
- The two humans who are harassed by the Nikto gang in the cantina are Camie Marstrap and Laze "Fixer" Loneozner. They originally appeared in a deleted scene from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and were shown to be friends of Luke Skywalker. They were originally played by Koo Stark and Anthony Forrest.
