"Chapter One: Stranger in a Strange Land" is the first episode of the Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett live-action television series, which is part of the greater Star Wars multimedia franchise. It was directed by Robert Rodriguez with a script written by Jon Favreau. It first aired on Disney+ on December 29th, 2021.

Plot[]

Having taken control of the late Jabba the Hutt's criminal empire, Boba Fett now resides in Jabba's palace on Tatooine with his new partner, Fennec Shand. Boba undergoes routine Bacta treatments to recover from various injuries. During these sessions he dreams of how he came to be here. He recalls escaping from the Sarlacc and being captured by Tusken Raiders who enslaved him and pressed him into forced labor. He finally earned his freedom, as well as the respect of the Tuskens after defeating a six-limbed creature in the desert.

After awakening from his bath of memories, Boba holds court and sees various crime bosses who offer him tribute as the new daimyo. A Twi'lek majordomo for Mok Shaiz - the mayor of Mos Espa gives him cause for concern.

Boba Fett and Fennec Shand decide to travel to Mos Espa bringing two Gamorrean bodyguards with them. They stop at a cantina known as the Sanctuary run by the Twi'lek Garsa Fwip. Fett tells her that he has taken over for the enterprises formerly run by Bib Fortuna, who was the previous daimyo before Fett killed him. [1]

After they leave, a group of masked assassins attack them with force pikes and energy shields. Although they are outnumbered, they managed to drive them off. Shand pursues several of them across the Mos Espa rooftops, and Boba instructs her to leave one alive for questioning. With only two of their assailants remaining, Fennec knocks one off a rooftop and takes the other prisoner.

Quotes[]

  • Boba Fett: Jabba had many vassals. We've got a lot of ground to cover if we are to keep his empire intact.
  • Fennec Shand: I can make the rounds without you. Jabba rarely left his chambers.
  • Boba Fett: Jabba ruled with fear. I intend to rule with respect.

....

  • Fennec Shand: You should have let them carry you on a litter.
  • Boba Fett: I'm not being carried around the streets like a useless noble.
  • Fennec Shand: It is a sign of power to the people of Mos Espa. They're used to seeing the Hutts paraded around the streets. Things would go a lot smoother if you accepted their ways.

....

  • UK2-B: These two Gamorreans were once bodyguards to Jabba the Hutt and later, Bib Fortuna. They did not surrender even after their patron was killed. They were captured alive as a tribute to you, Lord Fett. Their tortured squeals will send a piercing message to all potential challengers to your throne.
