Star Wars: Droids was a short-lived comic book series published by Marvel Comics under their Star Comics imprint (intended for younger readers). The series was based on the Droids animated television series, which itself, was based on the Star Wars film franchise. The series centered on the droids known as C-3PO and R2-D2 and took place in the intervening years between the events chronicled in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The last three issues of the series involved a story-arc called "Star Wars According to the Droids", which was a retelling of A New Hope from the perspective of C-3PO and R2-D2. Beginning in 1994, Dark Horse Comics published two droids-centric limited series, which likewise focused on the characters of Artoo and Threepio, but were considered an official part of the growing Star Wars Expanded Universe.
