Star Wars: Andor is an American live-action television series of the science fiction and fantasy genres. It is part of the greater Star Wars multimedia franchise and is considered part of the authoritative canon continuity. The series was produced by Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Productions and premiered on the Disney+ streaming service on September 21st, 2022. It was intended to run for two seasons with twelve episodes per season. It is the fourth live-action series to stream on Disney+ following Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi. The show takes place prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and serves as a prequel to the film. It features the character of Cassian Andor from Rogue One, once played by Mexican actor Diego Luna.

It first captured the imaginations of movie goers in May, 1977 with its inaugural installment, which has since come to be identified by its full title, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The movie led to two sequels, a prequel trilogy, a third trilogy, several spin-off films, and numerous television programs, animated projects, novels, comic books, and video games, as well as developing into a merchandising giant.
