Star Trek III: The Search for Spock is an American science fiction/adventure film directed by actor Leonard Nimoy, who is also classically known for playing the character of Spock. It is the third installment in the Star Trek film series and follows the events chronicled in the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. It was produced by Paramount Pictures and released theatrically in the United States on June 1st, 1984. The movie stars William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Walter Koenig, George Takei and Nichelle Nichols. In the film, Admiral James T. Kirk learns that his deceased ally and close friend Spock may still be alive and stranded on the Genesis planet. Discovering that Spock's mind is trapped inside the body of Doctor Leonard McCoy, Kirk must find a way to steal the Enterprise and take it to Genesis so Spock's mind may be rejoined with it's body. Complicating matters however is a Klingon commander looking to unlock the secrets of Genesis for himself.
