- Director Andrew J. Robinson usually plays the character of Garak on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. This episode marks his directorial debut. It is the only episode of the series directed by Robinson, but he will go on to direct the "Blood Fever" and "Unforgettable" episodes of Star Trek: Voyager.
- Actress Mary Kay Adams, who plays Grilka in this episode, is also known for playing Narn ambassador Na'Toth on Babylon 5.
- This is the second and final appearance of Grilka on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She appeared last in the season three episode, "The House of Quark".

- The title of this episode is taken from the 1980 song "Lookin' for Love" by country music singer Johnny Lee. The song was written by Wanda Mallette, Bob Morrison, and Patti Ryan. Released as a single, the song was included in the film Urban Cowboy. The title was also parodied in the graphic adventure game series Leisure Suit Larry in Leisure Suit Larry Goes Looking for Love (in Several Wrong Places).
