A.F. were the initials attributed to a young female cadet at Starfleet Academy. Her real name is unknown, but she was romantically attached to another young cadet named Jean-Luc Picard. During their courtship, Picard carved A.F.'s initials into an elm tree on the parade grounds. Little did he realize that this was a prized tree maintained by the groundskeeper, Boothby. According to Jean-Luc, he failed Organic Chemistry because of A.F. (presumably because his concentration was more focused on her than his studies). (TNG: The Game)
