In the 1930s, at the age of 21, Stanislaus served in the Polish Air Force where he met Janos Prohaska. In 1936, Stanislaus served in the Spanish Civil War. Following the defeat of the Polish military by the German Wehrmacht during the second World War, Drozdowski and Prohaska fled Poland and regrouped in England. The team were active in the Pacific Theater throughout the remainder of World War II and continued their activity in the post-war years, following the growing influence of Communist expansionism.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • The character of Stanislaus Drozdowski was created by writer Will Eisner and artist Chuck Cuidera.
  • In Post-Crisis continuity, Stanislaus Drozdowski lost his life in June, 1941 when his Grumman XF5F Skyrocket failed to throttle correctly in the hangar bay at the Valentine-Prendergast Airplane Factory in Moscow, Russia. This detail was later reversed due to the time altering effects of the Zero Hour event.
  • A version of Stanislaus Drozdowski appeared in the Blackhawk: Freedom's Champion movie serial in 1952. He was identified only as Stan and was played by actor Rick Vallin. In this series, Stan had a twin brother named Boris, and may have been Russian by descent rather than Polish. Although there was a Russian member of the Blackhawks named Boris in the comics, there was no familial connection between the two.
