Stan Merkel is a fictional police officer and a character featured in comic books published by DC Comics. He is associated with the Batman line of titles and first appeared in Batman #405 in March, 1987.
Biography[]
Stan Merkel was a police officer for the Gotham City Police Department. He was active during the years when Gillian B. Loeb was serving as police commissioner. Merkel was present on the day that an escaped mental patient named Albert Blume had taken hostages at an apartment building near Brigham Circle. [1]
In later years, Stan Merkel became a watch commander at the 11th precinct. He was one of the victims of the Hangman, who turned out to be Sofia Falcone. [2]
