History[]
St. Mercy Medical Center, or St. Mercy Hospital, was located in the U.S. state of New York. Years ago, Gary Hampton was admitted to the hospital after suffering severe near fatal wounds from a suspected animal attack. What the staff didn't know was that the creature who attacked Gary was actually a werewolf who had transmitted the curse of lycanthropy onto him. Gary experienced his first transformation at the hospital and escaped by leaping out of the window on the first night of the full moon. The following morning, after he had reverted to human form, he returned to his hospital bed as if nothing had happened. [1]
Sometime later, an elderly man was admitted to the hospital, having come to the end of his life. The man's father, Zechariah, was a century-old vampire who came to see him. The old man wanted his father to save his life by making him like he, but Zechariah refused, citing that it would do no more than make him an aged cripple who was now immortal. Zechariah euthanized his son by strangling him to death so he would no longer have to suffer from wasting away in a hospital bed. [2]
