"The Final Chapter" is the title to the ninety-eighth issue of the Spider-Man ongoing comic book series published by Marvel Comics. The story was written by Howard Mackie with artwork by John Romita, Jr. and inks by Scott Hanna. It was colored by Gregory Wright and lettered by Richard Starkings and Liz Agraphiotis of Comicraft. The story was edited by Ralph Macchio with Matt Hicks as assistant editor. This issue shipped with a December, 1998 cover date and carries a cover price of $1.99 per copy (US).

- The character of Spider-Man was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. He first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August, 1962 in a story titled "Spider-Man!" The character has since gone on to become one of the most well-known and enduring super-heroes of all time, having appeared in numerous comic book titles, as well as feature films, animated projects and video games.
- Spider-Man make reference to Norman Osborn's DNA bomb. He saw the full effects of the bomb in Spectacular Spider-Man #263.
- Peter Parker makes reference to the May Parker imposter that took the place of the real May Parker for a brief time, leading up to the events of Amazing Spider-Man #400.
