"The Dream Before" is the forty-fifth issue of the Spider-Man ongoing comic book series published by Marvel Comics. It is the third chapter in the "Pursuit" storyline, which runs through all four currently published Spider-Man titles. The issue was written by Howard Mackie and illustrated by Tom Lyle, who also provided the cover art for this issue. Finished art was provided by Scott Hanna. The coloring was done by Kevin Tinsley and Ericka Moran and lettering was provided by Richard Starkings and Joe Rosen. The issue was edited by Danny Fingeroth as group editor. Spider-Man #45 shipped with an April, 1994 cover date and carried a cover price of $1.75 per copy (US).

- The character of Spider-Man was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. He first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August, 1962 in a story titled "Spider-Man!" The character has since gone on to become one of the most well-known and enduring super-heroes of all time, having appeared in numerous comic book titles, as well as feature films, animated projects and video games.
- The "Pursuit" storyline continues in Spectacular Spider-Man #211.
- The Richard and Mary Parker simulcrums are seen in flashback where their deaths are revealed.
