Notes & Trivia[]
- This episode is included on disc one of the Spider-Man: The '67 Collection DVD set.
- This is the first animated appearance of the Vulture. In this continuity, the Vulture is actually Raniero Drago, rather than Adrian Toomes, who is the character that most people associate with the Vulture. He appears next in episode 1x16A, "The Vulture's Prey".
Allusions[]
- The original Marvel Comics Vulture was actually Adrian Toomes, who first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man, Volume 1 #2 in May, 1963. He is Spider-Man's second costumed opponent after the Chameleon, who first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #1. The character was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. Raniero Drago, who is the Vulture that is used in this episode, appeared first in Amazing Spider-Man, Volume 1 #48 in May, 1967. He was created by Stan Lee and John Romita. The most distinguishing visual difference between the two characters is that Toomes is bald while Drago wears a cap.
