"The Insidious Six" is the first episode of season two of the Spider-Man animated television series. The episode was directed by Bob Richardson with a script written by David Lee Miller based on a story treatment by John Semper. It first aired on FOX Kids on Saturday, September 9th, 1995.

- The character of Spider-Man was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. He first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August, 1962 in a story titled "Spider-Man!" The character has since gone on to become one of the most well-known and enduring super-heroes of all time, having appeared in numerous comic book titles, as well as feature films, animated projects and video games.
- This episode is the first chapter in the "Neogenic Nightmare" storyline.
- This is the first television appearance of the character of Michael Morbius, who is a foreign exchange student at Empire State University.
