"Night of the Lizard" is the first episode of the Spider-Man animated television series. The episode was directed by Robert Shellhorn with a script written by Gerry Conway, Stan Berkowitz and John Semper. It first aired on FOX Kids on Saturday, November 19th, 1994.

- Curt Connors, aka, the Lizard is one of Spider-Man's oldest and most popular super-villains. He first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #6 in November, 1963.
- Debra Whitman first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #196 in September, 1979. She worked as a secretary at Empire State University and dated Peter Parker for a time.
- Eddie Brock first appeared in Web of Spider-Man #18 in September, 1986. He first became Venom in Amazing Spider-Man #299 in April, 1988, though many sources like to credit Amazing Spider-Man #300 as his first full appearance as it is a landmark issue.
- In the comics, Curt Connors' wife is named Martha Connors. On the TV series, she is identified as Margaret Connors.
