Notes[]
"What the hell is THIS now?!?"
- The character of Spider-Man was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. He first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August, 1962 in a story titled "Spider-Man!" The character has since gone on to become one of the most well-known and enduring super-heroes of all time, having appeared in numerous comic book titles, as well as feature films, animated projects and video games.
- This episode is the sixth chapter of the "Neogenic Nightmare" storyline.
- Michael Morbius makes reference to Bela Lugosi in this episode. Bela Lugosi is the original actor to portray Dracula in the 1931 film Dracula by Universal Pictures.
- Peter Parker refers to the laboratory mouse as "Mickey"; an obvious homage to Mickey Mouse, who is the mascot of Walt Disney Productions. Who would'a thunk that just a handful of years later, Disney would end up owning the whole Marvel Comics stable of characters, huh?
- The climax of the episode where Peter Parker grows multiple sets of arms is taken from story elements from Amazing Spider-Man #100 and Amazing Spider-Man #101, the latter of which is the first appearance of Michael Morbius.
- Michael Morbius becomes a "living vampire" in this episode.
