Soo Park is a fictional zombie holocaust survivor and one of the main characters from the Blackgas comic book franchise published by Avatar Press. She first appeared in Blackgas #1 in January, 2006.
Biography[]
Soo Park was an Asian-American woman and a college student. She was the lover of a man named Tyler and came with him on a vacation get-away to Tyler's home town of Footstep on Smoky Island. She met Tyler's parents, Alan & Kate, as well as a college professor named Mister Abraham, who told them about the mysterious history of the island. They then retreated to a family cabin on the other side of the island to make love.
Geothermic pressure beneath the island caused a volcano known as "The Bulge" to erupt, which issued forth a cloud of underground chemicals called black gas. Those infected by black gas turned into psychopathic, murderous lunatics. Because Soo and Tyler were on the other side of the island, and downwind of the volcano, they were not immediately affected by the black gas. [1]
They ventured off and found Mister Abraham, who had been infected by the black gas. He was in the midst of a murdering a local named Doolans with a shovel. Abraham lunged at them, but Soo kept him off balance by striking him in the back of the head with a baseball bat. Tyler finished him off by blowing the top of his head off with a rifle.
Soo and Tyler made their way back to Footstep and found that his parents had already been infected. Kate had given in to her pent up rage by savagely beheading and castrating her husband. She took his severed genitals and stuffed them into his mouth. While Tyler stood in shock, Soo sprang into action. She pulled down a curtain and lit on fire from a burner on the kitchen stove. She threw it over top of Kate, who then burned to death. [2]
Venturing away from the house, the two continued to fight their way through hordes of infected. They went to the home of Peter Menlove, who was the captain of the boat that brought them to Smoky Island. Menlove managed to temporarily stave off the effects of the black gas, but ultimately succumbed and was killed by other infected.
Grabbing his boat keys, Soo and Tyler made their way towards the docks at Footstep Bay. In order to get past another horde of infected, Soo Park set a car on fire and drove it into them, causing a massive explosion.
Soo and Tyler made it to the boat, but by this point, Tyler had become infected. Soo assisted Tyler in taking his own life by holding a rifle beneath his chin and shooting him in the head. Alone, Soo Park navigated Peter Menlove's boat towards the mainland. [3]
