Biography[]
Sonya Gomez was an eager, young cadet at Starfleet Academy where she specialized in antimatter phase work. Upon graduating in 2365, she was stationed aboard Starbase 173, but immediately put in a transfer to the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D. All of Gomez' hard work and dedication paid off and she was assigned to the Engineering department under Lieutenant Geordi La Forge. Sonya presented herself as a perky and excited young woman, but her exuberance sometimes got the better of her, particularly when she accidentally spilled a glass of hot chocolate all over Captain Jean-Luc Picard on her first day on the ship. [2]
Shortly thereafter, Geordi La Forge was abducted by a slow-witted race of aliens known as the Mondor, who required his aid in repairing their disabled ship. Ensign Gomez assisted in the rescue operation by creating a harmless pyrotechnic display using the Enterprise' s Bussard collectors. [3]
