Son of Dracula (1943) 001

Son of Dracula is an American feature film of the vampire classic horror genre. It is the third installment in the Dracula series produced by Universal Pictures under their "Universal Monsters" brand and follows 1936's Dracula's Daughter. It was directed by Robert Siodmak and featured a screenplay written by Eric Taylor, with additional contributions from Curt Siodmak. It was released in the U.S. on November 5th, 1943. Lon Chaney, Jr. plays Count Alucard, the so-named "Son of Dracula". The movie also stars Robert Paige as Frank Stanley, Louise Allbritton as Kay Caldwell, and Evelyn Ankers as Claire Caldwell.

Son of Dracula is a British feature film of the musical comedy genre, with some elements of the horror genre thrown in as well. The film was directed by veteran horror director Freddie Francis with a script written by Jennifer Jayne (writing as Jay Fairbank). The movie was produced, edited by and stars everyone's least-favorite Beatle, Mister Ringo Starr. It was distributed through Apple Films and premiered in the United States on April 19th, 1974. The title of the film is taken from the 1943 Robert Siodmak horror movie, Son of Dracula, but otherwise bears no connection to the previous film.
