- "You are now the property of the Orion syndicate. Break the rules and you will suffer. Obey the rules and you will suffer less."
- ―Orion slaver
A Slaver is an individual who traffics in the slave market. They may be overseers, arbitrators, auctioneers, or sellers. Slavery subplots feature prominently in many science fiction and fantasy fiction venues. In the Star Wars film series, Jabba the Hutt employed slavers to capture aliens from different worlds to work as his servants and entertainers. Jabba's dancing girl, Oola, was a slave as was Leia Organa for a short period of time. [1]
In the Star Trek mythos, the green-skinned alien race known as the Orions operate a slavery syndicate. They even enslave members of their own race. The sale of Orion slave girls is quite popular amongst traders traveling through their sector and very profitable for the Orion Syndicate. In 2154, the Orions captured the Vulcan T'Pol with the intent of selling her at auction, but she was rescued by Captain Jonathan Archer and the crew of the Enterprise. [2]
Slavery also features prominently in comic books as well. One example would be the alien Skrulls from the Fantastic Four family of comic book titles. A Skrull slave operation was established on the planet Kral, in which the slave masters, patterned after 1930s Earth gangsters, captured aliens from different planets and forced them to compete in gladiatorial games.
