A skateboard is like a small surfboard except that it has four wheels and it doesn't do dick in the water. Kids scoot around on them for recreation and for sporting events, such as extreme skating. Such individuals are often referred to as "skate rats".
The Marvel Comics character known as Rocket Racer uses a jet-powered skateboard with gyroscopic stabilizers, and magnetic boots that keep him attached to the board. The skateboard also adheres to vertical and inverted surfaces. The board is cybernetically controlled via the Rocket Racer's head-set. The device was invented by Phineas Mason, aka the Tinkerer, who is known for supplying many members of America's supervillain population with their high-tech gadgetry. Robert Farrell, the Rocket Racer, also contributed some modified designs to the board as well.
