Skür'kll is an alien character and an antagonist featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is a member of the extraterrestrial race known as the Brood and was introduced in Uncanny X-Men, Vol. 1 #155 in 1982.

Biography[]

Skür'kll was a member of the interdimensional alien race known as the Brood and held the rank of Warrior Prime. He was a member of a clan that had alligned itself to the deposed Shi'ar leader Deathbird, who conspired with the Brood to abduct her own sister, the Empress Lilandra Neramani and bring her back to a safe house on Earth.

When the X-Men and their new ally Corsair tracked them down, Skür'kll used a device called a Psi-Scream to alter their perceptions, forcing Corsair to fight up against Storm. Professor X was able to use his own mental powers to free them.

Wolverine found Skür'kll atop his perch within the partially constructed skyscraper that housed Deathbird's starship. He tackled the Brood and the two went tumbling to the street. Skür'kll suffered mortal injury, but before dying, he told Wolverine "Defeat one of us, defeat one thousand -- the Brood will still triumph!" Upon expiring, his body disintegrated into smoldering dust. [1]

Powers[]

  • Winged flight: Like all Brood, Skür'kll was capable of winged flight. His insectoid wings allowed him to fly short distances and to hover in place for an indeterminate period of time.
  • Superhuman durability: Skür'kll's carapace was exceptionally sturdy and could even withstand the rigors of space for limited periods of time. The exoskeleton was as strong as platemail and could withstand low-yield attacks from conventional weaponry.
  • Poison stinger: Skür'kll's stinger was capable of administering a deadly poison that could kill it's target within a matter of seconds. However, he did not get the chance to use this method against the X-Men during his encounter with them.

Equipment[]

  • Psi Scream: The Psi-Scream is a weaponized psionic device that affects the perceptions of it's intended target. It draws out one's deepest fears and hatreds and amplifies them, causing them to see images of these things in others. It's effects are so powerful that it can cause individuals to aggressively attack it's closest allies. The Brood Skür'kll used such a device to force Storm and Corsair to fight one another.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • Skür'kll was featured on the cover to X-Men Classic #59, illustrated by Mike Mignola.
