Sigourney Weaver is an American actress born in New York City, New York on October 8th, 1949. She is best known for playing the role of action heroine Ellen Ripley in the Aliens film franchise. She first played the role in the 1979Ridley Scott film Alien and reprised the part for the next two sequels, Aliens and AlienĀ³. Although the character of Ripley was killed off in the climax of Alien 3, franchise creators found a way to bring her back in 1997's Alien Resurrection. In this film, Weaver played a clone hybrid of Ellen Ripley and a Xenomorph Queen. Outside of the Aliens family of films, Weaver also played the role of Gwen DeMarco - a sci-fi actress in the 1999 comedy Galaxy Quest. She also lent her voice to the "Love and Rocket" episode of Futurama. Another voice talent role for Sigourney included the voice of the ship's computer in Pixar's WALL-E. In more recent years, Weaver has portrayed the role of Doctor Grace Augustine in James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar. Weaver also lent her voice to the role for the Avatar video game. In 2011, Sigourney took on a more villainous role from usual work as "The Big Guy", the mysterious adversary from the sci-fi comedy film Paul.
While filming Alien, Weaver and female co-star Veronica Cartwright were made to wear white surgical tape across their nipples during scenes where they wore sheer clothing. [1]
