"The Secret of the Empty Box!" is the title to first story from issue #8 of the comic book anthology series Showcase. The story was written by Robert Kanigher and featured artwork by Carmine Infantino and inks by Frank Giacoia. The second story in this issue, also a Flash tale, is a twelve-page story called "The Coldest Man on Earth!". It was written by John Broome with artwork again supplied by Carmine Infantino and Frank Giacoia. A third vignette, titled "The Race of Wheel and Keel", is a three page historical western tale by writer Gardner Fox, artist Gil Kane and inks by Harry Lazarus. The cover art illustration for this issue was composed by Carmine Infantino and inked by Frank Giacoia. Both stories were edited by Julius Schwartz. This issue shipped with a May-June, 1957, cover date and carries a cover price of 10 cents per copy (US).
