Biography[]
Sheriff Bourne was the sheriff of the mining town of Paradiso on the border world of Regina. He had a difficult job working the terraformed community as many of the miners who worked there, including their families, suffered from the neurological effects of Bowden's Malady. Mal Reynolds and Zoe Washburne came to Paradiso after robbing a train filled with crates of Pescaline D, a badly-needed drug used to help fight the symptoms of Bowden's Malady. They went undercover and introduced themselves to Bourne under the guise of a married couple looking for work. Mal introduced himself as the nephew of a miner named Joey Bloggs, but Bourne told him that Bloggs committed suicide eight months prior.
